Wait...WHAT?

An ode to Jake Messier and HEARD Strategy and Storytelling
They say when one door closes, another one opens.
In my experience, it’s a lot louder than that.
My doors usually slam shut, typically right on my toe. There’s bruising and sobbing, maybe a few curse words.
Then, much like The Price is Right, I am presented with all these doors, each one a gamble I’m not sure is worth taking. I cautiously lay on the ground, peeking underneath it, squinting to see if there’s clues to what’s next.
And then finally, with a loud creek, hands halfway covering my eyes, it opens.
This last door though, man, that was a heavy one. My boss, my mentor, my friend is now talking through it. "Cancer." "Treatment." "Shutting down HEARD." "You can do it without me." "It’s yours if you want it."
Wait, WHAT?
Thud. Not sure if that was the door or my breaking heart.
But I’m going to do it. For him. and for me. And here we go, the beginning of Liora Lane Marketing.
The truth is, I have had months to prepare, but I didn’t. I put it off, praying that circumstances might change. Procrastination has never been my style, but it’s wild how quickly you can change when you find yourself in a situation you never dreamed of. The owner of a little marketing business.
Wait, WHAT?
Me?
Without Jake Messier, none of this would be possible. I wasn’t looking for him, or a career change, I was perfectly content. He was just my oldest son’s flag football coach. I had no idea he’d change my life. A year into knowing him, he simply said “your Facebook posts are funny. Come work for me, I can teach you everything I know.” So I opened the door.
And Jake, true to his word, taught me everything he knows.
It’s Liora Lane Marketing. But the heart of it, the true core of it, will always be- HEARD Strategy and Storytelling.
Special thanks to those taking this journey with me.
